Rev. Dr. Carmelo Mercado, ChFC®
Extended Pulpit Supply Pastor & Head of Staff
Besides being the extended pulpit supply pastor/head of staff of Deltona Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Carmelo Mercado, DMin, ChFC®, is an ordained Presbyterian minister, pastoral counselor, certified financial advisor, adjunct seminary professor, interfaith chaplain at InnovAge PACE/Orlando Health center, senior chaplain and psychosocial/financial services coordinator for affordable housing at the Presbyterian-affiliated Westminster Communities of Florida.
Pastor Carmelo previously held the roles of hospice chaplain for two large organizations, founding lead pastor of a new worshiping/chartered congregation, past moderator of Central Florida Presbytery, and bridge pastor/head of staff of Pineda Presbyterian Church. For 16 fruitful years, he served as the senior pastor/head of staff of El Redentor Presbyterian Church in Oviedo.
Every year, Pastor Carmelo sets personal goals to (1) grow emotionally intelligent (EQ), (2) shower people and family with kindness, (3) invest in lifelong learning, (4) remain debt-free, (5) do no harm by alleviating suffering and siding with the underdogs in the struggle for justice/peace, and (6) spread Christ’s joy—always aiming to make at least one person smile each day!
Pat Price
Church Secretary
Pat Price has faithfully served her Deltona Presbyterian Church (DPC) family for many years, including as a ruling elder and current Clerk of Session. She presently leads the Mission Team and serves as an usher, offering counter, and dedicated volunteer with the Food Pantry.
Originally from Tonawanda, New York, just outside Buffalo, Pat attended Tonawanda schools and earned her degree in Legal Secretarial Science from Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo. Although trained for the legal field, she discovered her true calling as a secretary—a career she cherished for over four decades. Before retiring, she devoted more than 32 years of service to Seminole County Government, working as the executive secretary to the Medical Director of the Seminole County Fire Department.
Guided by a deep sense of calling, Pat felt in her heart that she was meant to do more for her church. This conviction led her to retire from full-time employment so she could dedicate more time to serving both the congregation and the broader community.
Pat is married to Daniel, and together they share the joy of three sons and five beloved grandchildren—whom she fondly calls God’s greatest blessings. She remains deeply committed to the mission and ministries of DPC and looks forward to continuing her service for many years to come. She warmly welcomes anyone to reach out with questions about her work or about the life and ministry of the church.
Raymond DeVeau
Music & Choir Director
Music has been a defining thread throughout the life of Raymond DeVeau from an early age. He began formal piano study at the age of ten—training through the Sherwood Music School of Chicago, Illinois, from the mid-1950s through the early 1960s. By his teenage years, his musical development led him to the organ, where he served as a guest organist in several churches in his hometown of Houlton, Maine, from 1958 to 1962. One of the early highlights of his musical journey was playing for the dedication of a new Catholic church in his community.
During his college years, Raymond’s calling expanded to include vocal music, as he became actively involved in both concert choir and church choir. Following graduation, although his vocational path took a different direction, his passion for music remained constant. Throughout his adult life, he contributed to a variety of musical events, always returning to the organ and to the joy of leading and supporting congregational song.
In the mid-1990s, Raymond was called to serve as Music Director at Deltona Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully led the music ministry for many years. Over time, life brought changes and new seasons; however, his love for music that glorifies God and touches the hearts of worshipers never wavered.
In June 2026, by what he describes as God’s grace, Raymond returned to Deltona Presbyterian Church as Music & Choir Director. With a dedicated choir, cherished instruments, and a renewed sense of calling, he continues to use his gifts to lead others in worship—offering music that inspires faith, fosters community, and honors God.
Brenda García
Custodian
Brenda García was born in El Salvador and has lived in the United States since 1987, growing up and attending school in Miami, Florida. She is married to her husband, Adalberto, and together they have three children.
In addition to caring for her family, Brenda supports her husband in his drywall business. She enjoys gardening, exploring new places, and trying different kinds of food. As a family, they love traveling and discovering new adventures, experiences that deepen their appreciation for the beauty of life.
Brenda serves faithfully as Custodian, where she helps care for the church’s facilities with dedication and pride, contributing to a welcoming and well-maintained environment for all who gather.
Brenda believes that through dedication, perseverance, and faith in God, any challenge can be overcome. She is grateful for the love and support of her family and friends and considers it a true blessing to serve the church community.
The Session
Governing Council
The Session is the governing council of the local church, providing both spiritual and administrative leadership. Composed of ordained women and men officers (presbyters)—the Teaching Elder (pastor) and Ruling Elders (lay leaders) elected by the congregation—the Session serves as the representative body of the church. Entrusted to discern and carry out the will of Christ, it makes most of the major decisions on behalf of the congregation (typically by majority vote) and guides the life, mission, and ministry of the church according to the Scriptures, the Confessional standards, and Presbyterian polity.
